A failing fuel pressure regulator is a very common cause of surging, loping idle, rough running, and fuel pressure-related fault codes on higher-mileage Duramax engines. Replacing it with a genuine Bosch unit restores proper fuel metering and stable rail pressure. Also commonly referred to as the MPROP or Fuel Meter.
